Monthly Giveaway

Oops. Totally slipped my frazzled mind, that yesterday was Giveaway Day...

I have saved this one from the MAYA & RUHI Marie Antoinette Collection for this month's giveaway. A delicate and feminine 14K gold plated filigree, with ash-grey Swarovski crystals, and 14K gold filled ear wires.

This Collection is ultra-feminine with a touch of whimsy, and is an ode to Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" with Kirsten Dunst as the French queen. I love the costumes, the art direction, and especially how Coppola depicts the young royals with a touch of rock 'n roll.

Just leave a comment at this post if you are interested in receiving the earrings for free! The winner will be announced on December 10th's post, so you have until then to leave your comment... Good luck!

*The MAYA & RUHI Marie Antoinette Collection is available exclusively at Lush Icon, Bangsar Village II, Kuala Lumpur.

It was a fun-filled day of rides, shows and sights, with my parents and my nephew, Nicholas. :D

From Old Hollywood...

...to Ancient Egypt.
N.B. They're posing for the picture, but looking at the roller coaster. :S

Maya and Nicholas got soaked by the surprise fountain outside Jurassic Park.

Nicholas: "How do I get out of this cheesy picture?"

Time To London

In a week's time, I shall be off to London, where me and Those Two will spend an entire month with Our Dad. In the next seven days, I have a ton of things to wrap up and take care of: get bills paid, get dog settled at sitter's, get school bags sorted out, get presents bought, get suitcases packed...

Frankly speaking, I am not looking forward to the sun rising at 9am and setting at 3pm, and shops shutting at 6pm. But, hey, it's a change. We will be freezing together, as a family, at least. ;)

What I AM looking forward to are the museums (Again. Of course.), the yarn shops (with my newfound crochet obsession), and the relatively healthy diet (read: Pret A Manger sandwiches. Love!). Also, the many friends and relatives whom I haven't met up with for a long time. :)

As such, the blogging shall be fairly erratic for the next month or so. But rest assured, the giveaways, and updates will follow through. Eventually. :)

Locks of Love

Maya had been toying with the idea lately, of getting her hair that is down to her butt, trimmed right up to the middle of her chest.

But when I told her about Locks of Love, she decided to chop it all off for a good cause.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organisation that oversees kids with medical hair-loss problems, including chemotherapy, receiving hairpieces made from donated hair.

I had the honour of snipping her massive braid off. But we had to get to the hairdresser's to get it trimmed into decent shape...

I am SO proud of my Maya! :)

Happy Monday!

Ruhi is disgusted by the smut on this novelty mousepad (yes, I taught her well). And THIS is what I call a Kodak Moment.

More Crochet Conquests

Yep, that about does it, folks. The fruits of my crochet addiction these past few weeks...

Good enough to sell you think? I figured if I were to feed my crochet obsession, I'll have to find some use for these woolly lovelies. Coz they're pretty useless to us in these tropical parts. :S

As such, I am seriously toying (contradiction in terms) with the idea of a new Etsy shop filled with crochet chic. But that'd be closer to the end of next year, I guess, when woolies are a bit more in demand. That'll give me time to get things crocheted too. ;)

Crochet Conquest

One of quite a few, if I might add...

This one is a lovely peach, pink, orange, brown and ochre mix of 70% wool and 30% alpaca. I initially thought alpaca was some form of synthetic or the other, until I googled and found out it's the wool of a Peruvian goat, apparently very fine and quite sought after. ;)

This is actually a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law who lives in London. But I had to take a pic of it worn. Coz it just looks so much more "alive" on a model. Especially one who's giving Derek Zoolander a run for his Blue Steel. ;x

Party On

Yesterday, we celebrated the 10th birthday of my nephew, Nicholas...

As soon as we got there, Ruhi wrote out a plan on the whiteboard:

Maya's things-to-do list was somewhat more detailed and accurate:

Addicted To Crochet

I have tumbled hopelessly off the jewelry wagon, and landed in some seriously sticky crochet mud.

Last night, I sat in front of the TV, from the evening news, to The Mentalist, through to CSI:NY, and then House - crocheting all them hours straight. I am surprised my fingers have not knarled into knots in cramps.

Here are some signs that you too, might be a hopeless crochet addict:

* you zone out for hours on end, hungry for the next row to be completed, and then find yourself eager to start the next row.

* you carry your latest project around with you in a nifty little bag, in case you might want to whip it out and get some stitches in, while on the bus or waiting at the ATM.

* you ignore all pending work of every other kind, to get some crochet "work" done.

* you are sad your children don't have the same burning passion for crochet.

Yes. Hi, my name is Pearl, and I am a Crochet Addict.

Today, I shall be on a self-imposed rehab, cold turkey. I will NOT crochet. Until I get a few hours of jewelry in.

Monthly Giveaway

...and a Happy Monday to all as well! I've come out of 3 days' hibernation from potent painkillers for my migraine attack, and am feeling pretty brand-new, and, well, happy. :D

Believe it or not, they've started putting up Christmas decorations downtown, ALREADY. So this month's giveaway is something more elegant and dressy, looking forward to the party season.

This classy number is of Swarovski pearls, and worked with my signature wire-wrap style, and measures 5cm from the bottom of the ear wire to the bottom of the last pearl. Cool, sexy and sweet, all at the same time. ;)

Just leave a comment at this post if you are interested in receiving these for free! The winner will be announced on November 7th's post, so you have until then to leave your comment... Good luck!

Superheadaches

Yes, I am a migraine sufferer. For about 4 days a month, I am paralysed by what feels like a skewer going right through my skull just above my left eye.

So, at this point, I scoff down certain painkillers - Naproxen, Tramadol, etc (not all at one time though). And because I need to take these painkillers, I need to eat. And because I need to eat (even when I am not hungry), I put on a few pounds. And because I put on a few pounds, I get a bit upset. On top of feeling fat and unwell, I am unproductive, cranky and depressed. Argh, or what, huh?

So basically nothing can help me. Except, maybe, for an entire day of lolling about in bed, cradling and pounding on my head alternatively. I warn Them Two about The Headache, and they instinctively know to put in a little more effort around the house, and talk to me only when absolutely necessary.

Thing is, I just hope Them Two have not inherited this. Poor dears...

In A Twist Over Crochet

I rediscovered crochet a couple of weeks ago. And here is what I made so far...

A scarf and fingerless glove set for my husband... Yes, FINGERLESS gloves. They work, apparently. (And please do excuse the super-skanky nails...)

A scarf for my sister-in-law...

...a scarf for Maya...

... and more to come...

Yes, I have been hyper-productive with my new thing-to-do. And today was a culmination of my newfound obssession...

First, I overslept this morning, from a late night of feverish (but satisfying) crocheting. Me and Maya had to make a mad dash for the school bus, after getting dressed and ready in a record time of 5 minutes. Then, in the evening, I took Ruhi for her swimming lessons - without her swimming costume. We had no choice but to abandon the lesson, and head for an early dinner.

I just could not believe it. My obssessive crocheting is affecting the lives of my children! Bad news or what, eh? At some point, I muttered how disappointed I was with myself, and Ruhi quickly gave me a big hug, and said, "It's OK, it's only a mistake. You're still the best mother in the world." Aww... :)

So tonight, I will be having an early night. And ignoring my crochet bag, no matter how loud it screams.
