"Coco Before Chanel"

Spearking of the Art Nouveau's ideals of Woman, here's the breakthrough-fashion-icon and muse-to-all herself.

From what I have read, her's is a story laced with lovers, espionage and controversy. Raised penniless by seamstress nuns, Coco Chanel is THE "femme fragile" turned "femme fatale". I suppose if the movie doesn't turn out to be anything else, it cannot go wrong in terms of fashion.

I'm waiting with bated breath for the movie to premiere here. I can't wait to take in the fashion, the art direction, the socio-context of Coco Chanel's world - what she had to do to do what she did, and what she wore when she did it.

Wouldn't it be absolutely crazy if Karl Lagerfeld would make a cameo appearance as some fast-talking, wise-man waiter in one of the ballroom scenes? No such luck though. Not with King Karl anyway. He's entirely another icon...

I think he's just the cutest thing ever, outside of puppy-in-a-cup. He once said that it is his job to look like an icon. But that's another story, another movie, and another post... ;)
